The tutors are experienced and hold a post-graduate degree and/or 3 years of teaching experience. While hiring, priority is given to the tutors with prior experience in teaching Title I students. The tutors receive 30 hours of training. The goal of the training is to reinforce effective research based teaching strategies and assure compliance with all rules and regulations of the SES program. The tutors are also trained in the effective use of the curriculum materials. A range of important topics—from instructional best practices to record keeping and reporting requirements—is also covered in our training giving tutors tools that will support their role in the implementation of a quality SES program. Tutors are trained on effective methods and best practices regarding the delivery of instruction. Moreover, they are also given sensitivity training for working with a diverse population.
