It is absolutely essential that the tutoring, we provide, is in conformity with the Curriculum Framework provided by the California State Board of Education. One of the desired outcomes of the tutoring program includes an exceptional performance in the CAHSEE. Our Supplemental Curriculum has been carefully developed to meet national criteria for effective reading and mathematics instruction (as outlined by the National Reading Panel and the National Council of Teachers for Mathematics).
Our Math curriculum addresses the following key learning strands as outlined in the
California Math Curriculum Framework:
Number Sense
Algebra and Functions
Statistics, Data Analysis, and Probability
Measurement and Geometry
Mathematical Reasoning
The strands remain the same for all grade levels but the sub-topics and the extent of
details one is required to teach at each grade level varies. For grades 8-12 our
curriculum includes the following special courses:
Algebra I
Geometry
Algebra II
Probability and Statistics
Trigonometry
Linear Algebra
Mathematical Analysis
Advanced Placement Probability and Statistics
Calculus
Our Reading Curriculum focuses on developing the basic features of reading among
students. The knowledge of phonics, syllabication, and word parts enable them to
understand any text better. Moreover, throughout grade 3 to 12 we deliver instruction
focused on:
Phonemic Awareness
Decoding and Word Recognition
Vocabulary and Concept Development
Comprehension and Analysis of Grade-Level-Appropriate Text
Exploration of the Structural Features of Informational Materials
Developing the ability to critique the logic of functional documents
Evaluation of the credibility of an authors argument or defense of a claim
Make and support Literary Criticism
The curriculum progresses to more complex word-recognition skills that parallel those described in the English Language Arts Content Standards for California as we proceed to teach high school students.
To ensure that our instructions are properly aligned we integrate the state specifics into our supplementary curriculum.
